Dealer Notes

The 2019 Ford Expedition is the best of what a full-size SUV can offer. It’s a design that also speaks volumes about what you’ll discover inside: seating for up to eight occupants, plus loads of cargo space. Thanks to its modern lines and on-point styling details, the Expedition looks as premium as it does capable. From its confident grille and aluminum-alloy body to its sculpted profile and sleek wheel designs, the new, completely redesigned exterior makes a bold yet luxe statement at every turn. Passengers can customize their riding comfort, with three rows of flexible seating, available second-row tip-and-slide seats and third-row power reclining seats. There’s also a standard cargo protector to help keep items secure. Not to mention a full 104.6 cu. ft behind the first row of seating, 63.6 cu. ft. behind the second row and 20.9 cu. ft behind the third. The interior features enhanced active noise control that emits sound waves that cancel out unwanted sounds in the cabin such as engine, transmission and wind. The Expedition’s 3.6L EcoBoost engine is powered by direct injection and twin air-to-air intercooled turbochargers delivering a surge of on-demand power. Independent multilink rear suspension lets each rear wheel handle road conditions on its own terms, enhancing ride quality and control. A 10-speed automatic transmission with tow/haul mode distributes power to help ensure maximum traction and a great ride on any road. If you need to tow a large trailer, Expedition gives you 9,300-lb. towing capacity. The Expedition offers a range of convenient features to staying connected on the road, including SYNC 3, six available USB ports, a center console wireless charger, a premium audio system, dual-headrest rear-seat entertainment system, Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and FordPass app access.

We have a 2018 Ford Expedition Limited 4WD that we have owned for about six weeks now. (It was a dealer demo w/5000 miles when we bought it.) We have made one long trip with it (about 800 miles with five adults and a dog - no complaints). We are very happy with it so far. I traded in my 10-year old GMC SUV and wanted a large 3-row SUV that can tow. My wife approves of the passenger seat (very important). As the driver, I really liked the adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and rain sensing wipers. The passengers took full advantage of the wifi hotspot. It has plenty of power and the 10-speed transmission is smooth as butter. I do not mind the engine stop/start feature (and it can be turned off). This is a truck based SUV so it does handle like a truck. That is what I wanted but it may not suit everyone. Our gas mileage on the trip was just a bit better than the EPA estimates.
  • Excellent large size SUV but pricey

2019 Expedition Max Platinum 4x4 Great ride. Excellent performance , features and space. 3rd row seats were fine for adults even during long road trip. Gas mileage good - but not great -considering size but A/C usage now pushing it down a bit.. Drives a bit smaller than actual size but would hate to be parking in close quarters without 360 camera. Have not towed yet- but suspect will do very well. Only thing not 4 or 5 star is price. Considerably overpriced compared to rivals - but also considerably better. IMHO the best current non luxury full size SUV - and the Platinum approaches luxury level.

So, I bought 2019 expedition Max with heavy duty towing option. I live in Arizona and we have a 7500 lbs trailer. So, the 2019 Ford Expedition with ECOBOOST seemed like a great fit. We have 4 kids a 6 seaters is a minimum requirement for our tow vehicle. The Ford Expedition is great with the kids lots of room. The power was better than the 2013 Expedition, and I was excited. However, the transmission temperature and water temperature and as both reached over 240. I never had this with the 2013 Expedition. I cannot believe the cooling capacity on the 2019 is so bad. I saw that the heavy duty towing package included a bigger radiator, but it is not enough. I would like to give you a view to share with others considering the 4th generation Ford Expedition.
